Conrad London St James celebrates the spirit of London Fashion Week by collaborating with Australian artist Sally Spratt of The Lust List, a fashion favourite and high-profile graphic designer, to design the menus for its afternoon tea collection – starting with this season’s must, Conrad Catwalk. Founder of The Lust List, a digital showcase of covetable couture and luxurious must-haves, Sally is renowned for her high-impact illustrations on and off the runway, and has featured in prestigious publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, VOGUE and ELLE. The designer will link her unique illustrations with this quintessentially British afternoon tea experience, to create five inspiring and bespoke menus for Conrad London St James’ afternoon tea collection.
Conrad Catwalk: 15th February 2016 – 4th April 2016: Established as a key London afternoon tea destination, Conrad London St. James premieres its first afternoon tea of the year, and embraces haute-couture with Conrad Catwalk. The ever changing face of fashion is the inspiration behind the Conrad Catwalk afternoon tea, drawing on elegant canapés and light bites to create a delicious journey through the eras of fashion.
Musing over fashion luminaries such as British icon, Vivienne Westwood, guests will be treated to a punk marshmallow tea cake with cherry marshmallow in a pineapple crisp shell. Renowned as one of the most timeless patterns in fashion, the stripe appears as layers of white and dark chocolate mousse on caramel biscuit pearls, evoking simple patternity with a twist of Jean Paul Gautier’s signature monochrome flair.
Chanel’s eponymous classic style personified by Audrey Hepburn is symbolised with ruffles and pearls, a cassis mouse with marbled chocolate wafer. The Polka Dot Shot is a tangy and delicious lime posset with passionfruit, blackberry and yoghurt
cake. Taking its inspiration from the colourful and bold nature of yellow polka dot bikini, this playful and fun dessert is guaranteed to delight.
Bites of delicate savoury morsels designed to tempt the palate include beetroot wafers, smoked mackerel with horseradish and beetroot caviar. Miniature cherry tartin with onion confit and choux pastry offer a fresh and clean taste, whilst the delicious selection of individual finger sandwiches include smoked salmon and crème fraiche and coronation chicken. The traditional scone has been reinvented with flavours of vanilla bean, raspberry and served with passionfruit curd.
