British Olympic basketball hopeful Sarah McKay has declared Oman Air’s award-winning, extra-long Business Class seat a winner, after trying it for herself at World Travel Market 2011, in London earlier this month. The six foot, seven inch sportswoman settled into the seat, which was being showcased pressed the recline button to create a fully lie-flat bed, and found that she could fit comfortably into an airline seat for the first time in her adult life.
She commented to TravelPlus: “This seat is great – I have never been able to stretch out in an airline seat before. Oman Air’s seat is a winner and deserves all the awards it has won.”
Sarah was accompanied by Standard Life GB men’s basketball team captain, Drew Sullivan (six foot, eight inch,) who also anticipates representing his country at the Olympics. He added: “This is the longest aircraft seat I have experienced and the video screen is huge. I wish all seats were as big and as comfortable as this one.”
Oman Air’s Chief Officer, Corporate Affairs, Philippe Georgiou, told TravelPlus : “We are delighted to welcome Drew Sullivan and Sarah McKay to the Oman Air stand and to our Business class seat. It is, we believe, the longest Business Class seat available on any commercial airliner, but we wanted to find out just how it felt for our taller customers. Drew and Sarah were kind enough to come along and test it for us and we are very pleased that it has passed with flying colours.
Oman Air’s Business Class seat recently won the “Best Business Class Seat in the World” award at the World Airline Awards 2011, which were based on a worldwide survey of more than 18 million air travellers.
