InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s largest hotel operator, is set to open this landmark hotel in November 2012. The six guest floors will feature 256 rooms including an impressive Penthouse, 14 one bedroom suites, and 30 studio suites.
Injecting a new lease of life into an historic former government building, Queen Anne’s Chambers, the hotel is located alongside New Scotland Yard and the Ministry of Justice. In an area where politics, business and influencers come together, 180 new staff will be specially trained in the nuances of this prestigious area.
A short walk from Parliament, well within the eight minute division bell, and within sight of Westminster Abbey, The Chambers Bar and Dining Rooms will be at the heart of the hotel’s food and drink offering. Taking inspiration from the best American pit masters but with a distinctly British influence, the menu evolves around authentic smoke house techniques. On-site charcoal and smoking ovens will produce rustic dishes served in a modern way; classic comfort food using great British produce. The bustling restaurant, formed of one busy central chamber, will lead through to a private dining area for moments of more discretion and exclusivity. The Chambers Bar will bring a sense of luxury to the traditional British pub, offering everything from local ale to a signature cocktail.
Emmeline’s is destined to be an ethereal retreat at the heart of the hotel, offering cocktails and champagne in an exquisite environment, whilst The Lobby Lounge will be a welcoming haven to enjoy traditional teas, coffees and homemade cakes…all delivered with savvy, understated InterContinental service and a dash of British charm.
The hotel will feature a Club InterContinental Executive Lounge and a 24 hour gym for exclusive guest use. The eight state-of-the-art meeting and event rooms will be the go-to place to do business in Westminster, providing a secure environment for privacy and confidentiality, with the support of a comprehensive business centre.
Andrew Coney, General Manager, InterContinental London Westminster told TravelPlus, “I’m very proud that in this year of London celebration we are bringing to the city the first new InterContinental in 36 years. Westminster is a tremendous location calling out for what our brand can offer. Our hotel will be at the heart of an area renowned for its iconic sights and heritage but also going through an exciting period of regeneration. We will contribute to this by creating 180 jobs for local people and representing a major investment in this part of town.”
